King Mohammed VI of Morocco condoles Guinean people

Rabat, Morocco - King Mohammed VI of Morocco has expressed "his deep compassion" and condolences to the Guinean people, following the death of President Lansana Conté, a communiqué of the royal cabinet published here Wednesday stated.

The Moroccan monarch also commended the role of Conte in the reinforcement of the brotherly and historic links and the relations of fruitful cooperation and of effective solidarity in different areas, that have always united Morocco and Guinea and their peoples.

Mohammed expressed the total solidarity of Morocco and its support to the Guinean State and 
people, according to the communique.

Lansana Conté died Monday evening at the age of 74.


On Tuesday, some soldiers announced the dissolution of the constitution and the suspension of all republican and government institutions, throwing Guinea into a confused situation denounced by many countries, institutions and organizations in defence of democracy and human rights.
